Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I do show choir if I don’t have any singing or dancing experience?
A: Yes! We want you involved, no matter your ability level.

Q: Can I do show choir and sing in another choir, too?
A: Yes! All show choir members must sing in a curricular choir, so talk to your counselor about getting choir added to your schedule.

Q: Is show choir expensive?
A: There are fees for both Ovation and WSD, but no student will be turned away for financial reasons. We hold several fundraisers each year and apply for grants to make it possible for you to participate.

Q: Can I do show choir if I also play a sport or participate in other activities?
A: Yes! Show choir members also participate in nearly every sport or activity offered at Jefferson. We are willing to work with coaches/directors so you can be as involved as you want.

Q. What if I want to help out behind the scenes?
A: Both show choirs need help from backstage crew members! We collect crew applications in early November, so start looking for more information around that time. We couldn’t put on a show without the crew!

Q: What if I want to play an instrument in the show band?
A: Come to auditions in October! Typical show band instruments include piano, drums, bass guitar, electric guitar, trumpet, trombone, tuba, flute, clarinet, and saxophone. The show band is an integral part of our show.
