Have you ever wondered what the Booster Club is and how to become a member?

Guess what, you are not alone! Simply put, if you have a student involved in athletic activities at Jefferson, you are a Booster. In addition to our current parents and students, there are also numerous former parents, athletes, and supporters that continue to support the program.

ALL booster involvement; current, former, as well as future truly makes a difference and our athletic programs can’t do it without YOU! Iowa athletic programs do not receive State or District funding beyond coach salaries and partial coverage for transportation; zero tax dollars are used in support of athletic programs, except for occasional larger projects. The majority of Jefferson’s athletic backing is obtained through concession volunteers, yearly pass purchases, private donations, entry fees, and gate receipts. Simply put, your participation is critical to a continued successful Jefferson Athletics program.

Our major fundraising project by far are CONCESSION VOLUNTEERS, LIKE YOU.

Jefferson Boosters get the opportunity to staff the concession stands at ALL Kingston Stadium events, including non-J-Hawk events. Yes, that is correct, Jefferson Boosters staff ALL Kingston events. In addition to Kingston, we also staff softball, baseball, and the indoor Jefferson concessions stands. It is only through staffing the concession stands that we are able to give back as much as we do each year to support Jefferson Athletics.

So with that in mind, if you have a student involved in Jefferson athletics; football, cross country, swimming, volleyball, basketball, bowling, wrestling, soccer, golf, track, softball, baseball, tennis, cheer, or poms, you and/or your family are expected to volunteer in a couple of shifts in the concessions stands throughout the year. Throughout the year each sport is assigned to specific events and are expected to cover all assigned shifts. If you are unavailable for your team’s scheduled time frame you can sign up for an alternate time, simply designate the sport you would like to receive credit for your shift. Specific information will be shared at your student’s individual activity kick-off meeting. If you are not able to attend you can also get additional information from your student’s head coach you can access the Booster Concessions Sign Up by visiting the links below. Something else of note: Logging 25 hours of service in the concession stands makes a volunteer eligible to receive an individual Booster Pass for the following season. Simply notify the activities office of your milestone to receive the pass.

If you have any questions feel free to reach out to the activities office using the contact information below.

Fundraising and volunteer opportunities

One of the booster club’s primary goals is to raise funds to support the increasing cost of high school athletics. Our goal is to give $100,000 annually to the Jefferson athletic department.

Our primary fundraising is through concession stand proceeds. We depend on volunteers to run concession stands at the softball and baseball fields and indoor concession stand. In addition, we operate all concession stands for every event held at Kingston Stadium, which includes non-Jefferson events.

We are always looking for help. If you have a student involved in athletics, you are expected to volunteer or recruit volunteers. Sign up for shifts through the links below.

Additional fundraising opportunities

While concessions and athletic pass sales are our primary fundraising tools, we also have other campaigns occasionally. As we add the different campaigns we will post them on the website or communicate opportunities via email. If you would like to join the email list, please contact jeffersonboosterclub@gmail.com.
