Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I join show choir if I don’t have any singing or dancing experience?
A: Yes! We want you involved, no matter your ability level.
Q: Can I participate in show choir and sing in another choir, too?
A: Yes! All show choir members must sing in a curricular choir, so talk to your counselor about getting choir added to your schedule.
Q: Is show choir expensive?
A: There are fees for both Ovation and WSD, but no student will be turned away for financial reasons. We hold several fundraisers each year and apply for grants to make it possible for you to participate.
Q: Can I participate in show choir if I also play a sport or participate in other activities?
A: Yes! Show choir members also participate in nearly every sport or activity offered at Jefferson. We are willing to work with coaches/directors so you can be as involved as you want.
Q. What if I want to help out behind the scenes?
A: Both show choirs need help from backstage crew members — aka our award winning Blue Crew! We collect crew applications in late fall, so start looking for more information around that time. We couldn’t put on a show without our amazing crew!
Q: What if I want to play an instrument in the show band?
A: Come to auditions in October! Typical show band instruments include piano, drums, bass guitar, electric guitar, trumpet, trombone, tuba, flute, clarinet, and saxophone. Although, exact instruments needed vary from year to year. Our show band is directed by Matt Nicholson and is an integral part of our shows!
