An incoming ninth grader is leaving the comfort and familiarity of middle school and entering a new academic and social arena. Jefferson Freshmen Core is developed to help students find success within the transition.
Jefferson Freshmen Core was developed after the proven success of our BlendED Academy that supports the whole child. Students that participate in BlendED have a higher success rate throughout high school, proving that an individualized model of teaching creates an ideal learning environment. That’s why Jefferson is expanding the offering to all incoming freshmen and naming it Freshmen Core. Ninth grade = success.
How does Freshmen Core work?
Freshmen Core takes the standard three – 90 minute math, science and language arts classes and breaks them up into nine – 30 minute classes. This allows students to retake the same class for better understanding, or use a 30 minute block of time to work on assignments or request help from their teachers.
Is Freshmen Core required?
All 9th grade students will be automatically enrolled in Freshmen Core, allowing them to take their standard required classes, and have them broken out into smaller, digestible classes.
