Our History and Connection to BlendED Academy
The BlendED Academy was introduced at Jefferson as a unique program designed to accelerate students through core coursework while providing the opportunity to engage in hands-on, interdisciplinary projects connected to the real world.
One of the standout aspects of BlendED was its emphasis on community-driven learning. For example, after learning from marine science experts, students took the initiative to design and propose an aquarium project for Jefferson High School. These authentic learning experiences allowed students to develop research, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, reinforcing the idea that education extends beyond textbooks.
Our current Freshmen Academy builds on this foundation, incorporating elements of this innovative, student-centered approach, to ensure that every student has the support, structure, and inspiration needed to explore their potential and build a strong academic foundation for the future.
