Join us on May 2, 2026, from 7–9 p.m. at CSPS Hall for the inaugural Jefferson Performing Arts Gala—an evening dedicated to celebrating student talent and removing financial barriers to participation in the arts.
Enjoy live performances by Jefferson’s band, choir, orchestra, and theatre students, along with a curated silent and live auction and a catered meal by Julia’s Kitchen.
Your attendance directly supports a powerful goal: eliminating participation fees for Jefferson’s performing arts programs. For many students, these fees can stand in the way of fully engaging in music and theatre. Together, we can ensure every student has the opportunity to create, perform, and belong.

Band
Welcome to the Jefferson High School Band Program!
Our program offers a dynamic and well-rounded musical experience for students at every stage of development. We are proud to feature:
- Band of Blue Marching Band
- Three Concert Ensembles: Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band
- Band of Blues Jazz Band
Beyond these core groups, our talented musicians also support school events through:
- Show Band for show choir
- Pit Band for the annual musical
- Pep Bands for assemblies and special events
At Jefferson, music is more than a class—it’s a community. Whether you’re marching on the field, performing on stage, or cheering in the stands, there’s a place for you in our band family!

Orchestra
String Ensembles at Jefferson
Symphony Orchestra
The Symphony String Orchestra is a core ensemble at Jefferson High School and meets during the 5th-hour block. The ensemble is made up of mostly junior and senior students who have previously been in Jefferson’s orchestra program. This orchestra will explore many styles of music and learn advanced string playing techniques. The Jefferson Symphony Orchestra has an active performance schedule throughout the year and participates in State Large Group Contest.
String Orchestra
The String Orchestra is another core ensemble at Jefferson High School and meets during the 1st-hour block. The ensemble is made up of mostly freshman and sophomore students. This orchestra will explore many styles of music and build upon fundamental string playing techniques. The Jefferson String Orchestra has an active performance schedule throughout the year and will combine with the Symphony Orchestra for some concerts.

Student Opportunities
Performance opportunities
Students interested in acting and other performing experiences, such as dancing and improvisation, have an opportunity to participate in five major productions during the school year. Auditions for all productions are announced in the school announcements and on the call board in the theatre hallway. Audition materials are available from the director prior to tryouts.
Rehearsals typically begin five to seven weeks before the production. The majority of rehearsals are held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. each afternoon with several evening practices from 6 to 10 p.m. Students who are cast in a production are given a complete rehearsal schedule and are required to attend all rehearsals and performances.
Students must have passed 20 credit hours in the previous term and be passing 20 hours in the current term.
Technical opportunities
Students from all grade levels are encouraged to be involved in the many technical areas that are part of each production throughout the year. The scene shop is usually open daily after school and Saturdays. Shop hours are posted on the call board in the theatre hallway each week.
Students who wish to work on crews may attend any sessions for any length of time that is convenient for their schedules. There is no set number of required hours.
Crew heads are chosen by application. However, any student may be a part of most crews, although lights and props have a limited number of crew members. Students who show up when a crew meets may acquire the thespian hours/points, and will be listed in the program as crew members.
No experience is necessary. Students will learn the basics of carpentry, painting, sewing, business skills, and other talents related to technical aspects of a production. Students with creative ideas and abilities will find opportunities to put them to use in the areas of publicity, make-up, costumes, lights, props, scenery construction, and painting. More experienced students will help to supervise and instruct beginners in the fundamentals.
Educational Theater Association
The theater faculty are active members and leaders in their professional organization, the Educational Theater Association of the International Thespian Society. They hold leadership positions on the state and national levels.
International Thespian Society Troupe 561
The International Thespian Society organization broadens student interest in the theatre by providing opportunities to attend state and international conferences, and other high school, college, university, and community theater productions. Thespian Troupe 561 of Jefferson High School is open to all students who are interested in theatre.
Meetings are on the first Tuesday of every month.

Choir
The Jefferson High School Choral Department is committed to providing all interested students with a positive, growth-focused singing experience. Any student at Jefferson may join one of our many choirs, and students in a choir are also involved in nearly every sport, club, and activity offered at Jefferson!
Choir members learn about vocal production, music theory, and ensemble singing while building the Future Ready skills outlined in the CRCSD “Profile of a Graduate.” Jefferson Choral programs and activities include:
